author's description
The overriding goal of the architectural concept was to create an object of local character, neutral in form and at the same time applying the right "architectural code" clearly defining the function of the object - swimming pool.
The main idea of the designed building was to create an object simple in form, compact, neutral for space, attractive in its simplicity, correct in terms of functional solutions. The principle adopted was to "cut" holes of various sizes in the main body based on simple geometric forms of square, circle and rectangle, which are to be windows, openings, skylights or additions to the body of the building. Attractive in form, the perforations are not accidental. The positions or sizes of windows, skylights or additions as well as the observation tower are driven by both the needs of function and the attractiveness of the exterior mass. This principle was applied to both the exterior and interior of the designed building, thus ensuring the coherence of the entire structure. Care was also taken to ensure the appropriate composition of the fifth elevation, the roof.
The architecture of the building was designed with particular emphasis on the identifiability of the building's function - the swimming pool. For this purpose, an individual facade cladding of the building was created for the project, which unambiguously but subtly and without unnecessary literalism refers to the water theme, and at the same time provides durability for years. Large-size prefabricated concrete slabs with an individual exterior finish were used as the facade material. The main facade cladding was designed as sculpted glazed ceramic tiles measuring 25x25x4cm according to an individual design. The square tiles were inscribed with an overhanging motif of a concave circle, creating a bowl that refracts light in an intriguing way. The tiles would have been produced in several color variations, in shades of bottle green, creating a shimmering reflective swimming skin like sunlight refracting on a sheet of water.

the competition jury's opinion

The Competition Jury awarded honorable mention to the work number 9 for the proposed architectural solutions. The individual approach to the creation of both the facade of the building and the interiors of the recreational swimming pool space, in which greenery becomes a special sign, was noticed different from the presented works.
