Results of the student urban planning and architectural competition "Metamorphosis of Lea 114"

descriptionIn early June this year, the student competition "Metamorfoza Lea 114" organized by the Cracow University of Technology for the development of an urban-architectural concept for the development of the area around the PK building at 114 Lea Street and the arrangement of the space on the first floor of the building (plot no. 742/11, cadastral unit: Krowodrza, precinct number: K-2) was resolved.
The organizer of the competition expected conceptual designs for the development of the area around the building and conceptual designs for the arrangement of the entrance areas to the building, taking into account the needs of the building's users - employees and students of the Cracow University of Technology, tenants of commercial premises and their clients, including people with special needs.
The competition, under the honorary patronage of JMR of the Krakow University of Technology, was aimed at male and female students of the Krakow University of Technology, as well as male and female graduates and employees, as team supervisors. The competition could be entered individually or in teams.
Six works were submitted to the competition, which were evaluated by a jury consisting of:
- Prof. Andrzej Szarata - rector of PK, chairman,
- Dr. Marek Bauer - vice-rector for student affairs,
- Dr.Tomasz Kapecki, Prof. PK - Vice Rector for General Affairs,
- Sylwia Momot-Luzara - chancellor of PK,
- Tomasz Matera - technical director,
- Ewa Deskur-Kalinowska - promotion department,
- Angelika Kopeć - office of Persons with Disabilities,
- Monika Firlej - FutureLab, secretary of the competition committee.
In the evaluation of the project, preference was given to:
- optimized implementation costs, consistent with the principles of sustainable development, the quality of the space around the building,
- the quality of the proposed solutions within the building entrance and in and around the building,
- the level of adaptation of solutions to the needs of people with disabilities,
- consideration of the needs of current (possibly future) users of the premises (PK units and renting companies).
Three main prizes and three honorable mentions were awarded in the competition.
First Prize in the amount of PLN 5,000 went to the team composed of Aleksandra Baranska, Kacper Ciszewski, under the direction of Tomasz Malec.
Second Prize in the amount of PLN 3.5 thousand was awarded to Wiktoria Chłopek, Julia Marszałek.
Third Prize and PLN 2 thousand were awarded to landscape architecture students Wiktoria Klosowska and Maja Marek. The supervisor of the project was Dr. Katarzyna Lakomy, Prof. PK.
Three equal honorable mentions were awarded to the team composed of - Martyna Delikat, Aleksandra Daniel (supervisor Dr. Maciej Skaza), Antoni Figiel, Katarzyna Szymczyk.
