description

On December 10 this year, the results of the nationwide competition for the best master's thesis in the field of Architecture (Architecture and Urban Planning) - "Wood in Architecture" - were announced at a gala ceremony at the Faculty of Architecture at Bialystok University of Technology.

The idea behind the "Wood in Architecture" Competition is to spread knowledge about the value and uniqueness of wooden architecture. The evaluation criteria include both the value of architectural solutions, in which the versatile qualities of wood are shown, and the quality of the relationship between the material and the shaped form.

The competition awards both the authors/authors of the thesis and their promoters/promoters.

The competition is the result of cooperation between the Faculty of Architecture at the Bialystok University of Technology and Unihouse SA and Danwood SA.

This year's edition of the competition attracted 23 diploma theses from architecture faculties from all over Poland. They were judged by a jury consisting of:

  • Prof. Tatiana Misijuk - Chairperson, Dean of the PB Faculty of Architecture,
  • Waldemar Jasiewicz - Podlaska Regional Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland,
  • Emilia Łogwiniuk-Unihouse (Unibep SA Branch),
  • Tomasz Kieżel - Unihouse (Unibep SA Branch),

  • Piotr Trojniel - President of SARP Białystok Branch,
  • Marcin Maczak - Chairman of the Podlasie Regional Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland,
  • Dr. Adam Jakimowicz - commissioner of the competition, Department of Architecture, PB.

From among them, the jury selected the best five, which were awarded three main prizes and two honorable mentions.
