On June 1 this year we learned the results of the Young Design 2023 competition organized by the Institute of Industrial Design. This year's 16th edition of the competition for young designers and designers was held under the theme "Explorers" in honor of the patron of the year 2023—Nicolaus Copernicus.
For the competition, in which the main prize is the Prof. Wanda Telakowska scholarship in the amount of PLN 20,000 gross, one had to submit a prototype or physical product referring to the theme of the competition.
The submitted works were evaluated by a jury chaired by Agnieszka Wasilewska (President of the Board of the Institute of Industrial Design) and composed of: Cezariusz Lesisz (President of the Board of the Industrial Development Agency), Prof. Magdalena Kochanowska, Dr. Marcin Zarzecki (President of the Board of the Polish National Foundation), Dr. Joanna Jurga, Agata Nowotny and Jakub Jezierski.
The final of the competition included six projects: "Basow" by Jakub Bruss, "Jacquard fabric sampler using sublimation printing" by Inka Fischer, "SelfHytte" by design by Jacek Janas, "FEMO." by Oleksandra Milishchuk, "flor-i" by Beata Swietońska and "Mycelio" by Aleksandra Wróbel.

The main prize—the Wanda Telakowska scholarship—and awards from the Polish National Foundation and ARP Budownictwo Sp. z o.o. went to Jacek Janas, author of the "SelfHytte" project—a system supporting the installation of RES devices in modular homes.
The award of the President of the Industrial Development Agency went to Jakub Bruss, author of the structure for treating salt water with solar energy "Basow".
The award of Totalizator Sportowy was won by Oleksandra Milishchuk, author of "FEMO.", a tool that allows to materialize emotions.
The Special Prize of the Orlen Foundation was awarded to Aleksandra Wróbel, author of ecological animal coffins made of mushroom mycelium, "Mycelio." An additional prize was awarded by the Orlen Foundation to Beata Swietońska, author of a puzzle simulating the world of plants "flor-i".
Prizes from the Industrial Development Agency Foundation and the Minister of Education and Science were awarded to Inka Fischer, creator of "Jacquard fabric sampler using sublimation printing."
