descriptionOn June 14 this year, the 9th edition of the competition for the Architectural Award of the President of the City of Warsaw, which awards Warsaw buildings, places and events of 2022, was decided. The award is given in cooperation with the Warsaw Branch of the Association of Polish Architects, the Mazovian Regional Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland and the Warsaw Branch of the Society of Polish Urban Planners.
The submitted proposals were evaluated by a jury chaired by Michal Olszewski, Deputy Mayor of the City of Warsaw, and composed of: Marlena Happach (Architect of the City, Director of the Office of Architecture and Spatial Planning of the City of Warsaw), Donata Kończyk (Plenipotentiary of the President of the City of Warsaw for Accessibility), Ewa Janczar (Chairwoman of the Spatial Order Commission of the City Council of the City of Warsaw), Łukasz Górzyński (Chairwoman of the Spatial Order Commission of the City Council of Warsaw). Warsaw), Łukasz Górzyński (Chairman of the Mazovian Regional Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland), Tomasz Majda (Chairman of the Municipal Urban Planning and Architectural Commission), Magdalena Federowicz-Boule (Representative of the Board of the Warsaw Branch of the Association of Polish Architects), Anna Tofiluk (Representative of the Sustainable Architecture Circle of the Warsaw Branch of the Association of Polish Architects), Judyta Wesołowska (Representative of the Board of the Warsaw Branch of the Society of Polish Urban Planners), Ewa Porębska (Editor-in-Chief of the Architektura-Murator monthly), Grzegorz Piątek (architectural historian) and Marcin Szczelina (architecture critic and curator). From May 1 to 21 this year there was also a plebiscite of residents, in which they could indicate the most interesting realizations or events in their opinion.
TheGrand Prix, the Award in the New Life of Buildings category and the Award for Accessibility Solutions went to the Modernization of the National Library designed by Konior Studio. The award in the Public Utility Architecture category went to the Memorial Chamber at the Warsaw Insurgents Cemetery by Bujnowski Architekci studio. The award in the Commercial Architecture category went to the Forest Office Building by HRA Architekci, and in the Residential Architecture category to the Brick Buildings on Grodno Street by TZA. The award in the Public Space Design category went to the Arsenal City Hall Square by WWJA studio, and the award in the Architectural Event category went to the Exhibition "Natalia Romik. Hideouts. Architecture of Survival." The Environmental Solutions Award and the Residents ' Award went to the School for Ukrainian children in the MyHive Mokotow Two office building by XYstudio.
