The 18th edition of the Affordable Housing Challenge series for affordable housing projects has been announced, called the Denver Single-Stair Housing Challenge, organized by the Buildner platform in partnership with SAR+ Architects.
objective
The goal of the competition is to design innovative, multi-story single-staircase housing for underutilized sites in Denver. The initiative aims to help address the housing crisis and climate change by promoting more sustainable and affordable housing solutions. The competition challenges participants to design mid-rise buildings of up to six stories that meet Denver's existing zoning and urban planning regulations, while proposing innovative ways to overcome regulatory barriers.
terms and conditions
Contestants must submit design proposals that meet the specific requirements for the selected locations. Each location has its own unique typological, environmental, urban and landmark characteristics that must be incorporated into the designs. Proposals can be developed individually or by teams of up to four members. The competition is open to everyone, with no professional qualifications required. All communication and submissions must be conducted in English.
prizes
The prize pool for the competition is $20,000. Prizes are divided into:
- 1st Prize: $10,000
- II Prize: $5,000
- III Prize: $3,000
- Student prize: $1,000
- Sustainability Award: $1,000
- Six honorable mentions
