The Association of Polish Architects Katowice Branch has announced the 30th edition of the Architecture of the Year of the Silesian Province competition. This year, the competition's partners are the local SARP branches of Bielsko-Biała and Częstochowa, while the competition's patrons are the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, Wojciech Saługa, and the Silesian Regional Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland.

purpose

The purpose of the competition "Architecture of the Year of the Silesian Voivodeship - the year 2024" is to select the best architectural work in the categories:

• public building (includes all buildings except multi-family residential buildings),
• multi-family house,
• single-family house,
• interior,
• small form (includes design, detail and other such projects),
• export work of Silesian architects for work completed outside the administrative borders of the Silesian province.

From among these categories, the organizers will select the Grand Prix winner.

Other goals of the competition are: To identify outstanding young architects and female architects and honor them with the "Young Creator of Silesian Architecture" award (architects, female architects, interior designers and designers who are under 40 years of age, living in the Silesian Voivodeship, may apply for the award in this category), to promote the Voivodeship through architecture, to shape aesthetic awareness in the creation of architecture and to develop an understanding of the features of identity and sustainable development of the built environment.

terms and conditions

The competition is open and is addressed to both designers / designers and investors / investors.

The competition "Architecture of the Year of the Silesian Voivodeship - the year 2024" can be submitted works (cubature objects and interiors) located in the Silesian Voivodeship, as well as outside the Voivodeship, but realized by architects from the Silesian Voivodeship.

Objects must be completed by the end of 2023. The application must be accompanied by a statement of the author/author on the completion of construction, a statement of copyright. At least one person of the author's team listed in the application should have the appropriate design rights. This provision does not apply to the category of small form and interior.

Applications on application cards can be made by natural and legal persons: authors, author teams, presidents, mayors and heads of cities and municipalities, county heads of the Silesian province, investors, the Association of Polish Architects, the Society of Polish Town Planners, professional chambers of architects, town planners and civil engineers. If the application is made by the president, mayor, village head, district head, investor, SARP, TUP or the professional chamber, it should be made in consultation with the designer.

Application to the competition is free of charge, and the number of proposals submitted by one entity is not limited.

The jury will nominate objects for the award, from which works will be selected for evaluation at a meeting of jury members in September/October 2024. The meeting of the jury members is a tour of the nominated objects, hence the owner of the object should agree to share it. Works that receive at least two jury nominations will be nominated.

• Best Multi-Family House Award,
• Best Single-Family House Award,
• Best Interior Award,
• Best Small Form Award,
• Best Export Work Award,
• The Grand Prize will be awarded to the best realization among all categories,
• Young Creator of Silesian Architecture Award.
