NUDO is Kaja Ałaszkiewicz and Domenico Russo. They design simple furniture, nudo furniture - which from Italian means naked. The word also describes things that have no ornaments or decorative accents. Thus, the NUDO studio is characterized by minimalist designs of furniture and interior accessories.
Simple, devoid of unnecessary ornamentation, the furniture created from plywood, but also from raw wood, defends itself with its original form and precise workmanship. Many of them are also multifunctional, open to new adventures and utilitarian challenges! In its offer {tag:Manufacturer} in addition to tables and tables, chairs and benches, also has bookcases, dressers and minor wooden accessories.
Basia Hyjek: How did the idea for NUDO come about?
NUDO: While gaining our first work experience after college (Domenico as an architect, Kaja as a PR manager), we discovered that this job did not give us 100% satisfaction. We needed more creative challenges. Domenico took on an internship at a studio producing plywood furniture. His commitment quickly got him a job. We lived in a small apartment in London that lacked multifunctional furniture, so Domenico's head was increasingly swelling with ideas. That's when he poured our first project onto paper: the TONDO series of tables. One stool that changed its functions with demand: on weekends it became a chair for guests, a bedside table in the evening, and a plant stand during the day.

Basia: Where do you get your inspiration from?
NUDO: Our furniture is minimalist, with virtually no ornamentation. It is their shape and lines that are supposed to be attractive to the viewer. They are like naked bodies, which every customer decorates with everyday objects. That is why we are called NUDO, which means naked in Italian. We are inspired by the simplicity of geometric shapes and clean lines. We have fun creating functional compositions.
Basia: Please tell us about the products - what is the creative process like?
NUDO: This year, the winners of the MUST HAVE 2020 poll of the Lodz festival are GIRO tables. These unusual coffee tables consist of simple geometric figures: a round top, a rectangular leg and an arch-shaped pillar. It is the latter element that immediately catches the eye. To create this form, we used the process of laminating, or bending thin sheets of plywood. Last year's winners of the same poll, the PIANO coffee tables are the first furniture in which we used solid wood. This is a series of delicate furniture made with great attention to detail. The round and oval tops of the tables are supported by rounded wooden legs, which give the whole structure a lightness. The Piano series charms with its simple lines combined with delicate contours.
The PIANO series captivates with simple lines combined with delicate curves.

Basia: Do you use your own creations in your homes?
NUDO: Since all products come out of our hands, we get attached to each product. That's why it's hard for us to say goodbye even to prototypes, of which there are plenty in our apartment. There are two TONDO tables on each side of the bed, we put plants in our PIANO flowerbeds, and in the living room there are chairs and a bench that never even went into production.
