Stefano Boeri Architetti

Based in Milan, Shanghai and Tirana, Stefano Boeri Architetti (formerly Boeri Studio) has been researching and designing architecture and urban planning since 1993.

Diversity is a fundamental principle guiding the studio's work - this approach has enabled it to carry out projects involving both architecture and design, taking into account the geopolitical and environmental aspects of urban phenomena. The studio develops projects in complex environments on different continents, promoting cooperation between all participants in the design processes - both public and private. Thanks to this integrated and interdisciplinary approach, Stefano Boeri Architetti has acquired a clearly defined identity and has become a reference point for sustainable architecture and strategic urban development at different scales - both in Italy and internationally.

Starting with Bosco Verticale (Boeri Studio, Milan, 2014), the first prototype of architecture that integrates living nature, the studio has been developing urban and vertical reforestation projects around the world, taking into account local climatic conditions and specific functional requirements. An example of this approach is the Trudo Vertical Forest, the first vertical forest realized as a social housing project, opening in Eindhoven in 2021. This is a significant step forward in combining environmental challenges with the pressing housing needs of modern cities.

The studio has won numerous international awards for its achievements. Bosco Verticale, a symbol of Milan and biodiversity in architecture, was named Best World Building by CTBUH (Chicago) and Best Skyscraper by DAM (Frankfurt). The studio also received the award for Professional Leadership in Biodiversity in Architecture from the US Green Building Council (2020).
