Hamonic+Masson & Associés

The origins and development of the studio
Hamonic+Masson & Associés, founded in 1997 by Gaëlle Hamonic and Jean-Christophe Masson, added a new partner, Marie-Agnès de Bailliencourt, in 2014. Soon after its inception, the office was recognized on the international architectural scene. In 2001, it was nominated for the prestigious Mies van der Rohe Prize, and in 2002 it won an honorable mention in the Nouveaux Albums de la Jeune Architecture (Naja).

The studio came to the attention of the general public in 2003 with its Maison Métal project, presented at Parc de la Villette. The building combined art and architecture, opening the space to new, non-obvious scenarios of use. The project initiated a series of exhibitions and set designs, and the studio served, among other things, as co-curator of the French pavilion at the 2008 Venice Architecture Biennale as part of the French Touch collective.
