MAD Architects

MAD Architects was founded in 2004 by Ma Yansong, who runs the office with Dang Qun and Yosuke Hayano.

The studio focuses on creating futuristic, organic and technologically advanced designs that represent a contemporary interpretation of Eastern sensibilities to nature. With a vision of a future city based on the spiritual and emotional needs of its inhabitants, MAD strives to achieve a balance between man, city and environment.

MAD's projects include urban planning, urban complexes, public buildings, museums, theaters, concert halls and housing, as well as art and design ventures.

The company has projects in China, Canada, France, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands and the United States. In 2006, MAD won a competition to design the Absolute Towers in Mississauga, Canada, becoming the first Chinese studio to complete a major skyscraper project outside the country.

In 2014, MAD became the lead designer of the Lucas Narrative Art Museum in Los Angeles, making the studio the first Chinese office to design a foreign cultural facility of such stature.

MAD has offices in Beijing (China), Jiaxing (China), Los Angeles (USA) and Rome (Italy).
