Elephant was founded in 2015 by Menno Kooistra. The studio's goal is to prove that it is possible to create healthy, sustainable and flexible architecture without compromise. The studio's team believes that Elephant's unique approach has the potential to have a positive and lasting impact on people, cities and the environment.

The name "Elephant" refers to elephants, which leave the largest footprint among land animals. Within this footprint, new microhabitats are created and biodiversity flourishes. The studio is committed to responsibility for its footprint, believing in its positive impact on the future.
