Carlos Arnaiz Architects (CAZA)

CAZA is a Brooklyn-based design studio with offices in Manila, Philippines; Bogotá, Colombia; and Lima, Peru.

Their work focuses on exploring how architecture can shape meaningful experiences, enrich the environment, connect people to place and their heritage, and contribute to a sustainable future.

As the architects write about themselves:

Analytical Processes: Our projects are based on research and quantitative analysis. By conducting data-driven studies of site conditions, spatial opportunities, performance indicators and formal potentials, we develop unexpected design solutions that result in innovative, optimized buildings.

Bottom-up approach: We treat each project individually. Rather than specializing in a particular building type, geography or architectural style, we start by exploring the opportunities presented by a project and developing a tailored design strategy to realize them.

Interdisciplinary thinking: We draw from multiple disciplines - including urban planning, data science, philosophy and design theory - to approach projects from multiple perspectives and create buildings that respond to complex challenges.

Rooted in place: Each of our projects emerges from a deep understanding of place - its geography, aesthetic traditions, cultural practices, built environment and community needs. The resulting projects reveal a formal beauty that is intrinsically linked to their surroundings and culture.
