Malgorzata TOMCZAK
Edited by Jakub Szczęsny
What a pleasure it was! The issue edited by Jakub Szczęsny is an adventure for the entire editorial team. How much fun, but also bitter laughter at the cartoon in Moodboard! How much satisfaction with selected examples for presentation.
Each issue edited by the studio is a lot of fun for us, each one we consider unique and very successful. So it was this time, too. First came the cover, which turned out to be a big surprise. Then Kuba announced the drawing of a cartoon. We couldn't wait for the next spreads, as they flowed one, sometimes two at a time. Finally, a conversation in which Kuba constantly plays a kind of game with me, and from serious arguments about the condition of the world and architecture turns to irony, sometimes provoking.
Jakub Szczęsny is not afraid of challenges. He is the author of the Keret House - the narrowest house in the world, which is located in a 152-centimeter gap on Zelazna Street in Warsaw. He has been an artist-in-residence in New York and São Paulo. He hosted TV shows, was a cartoonist for Playboy or Fluid, worked in an advertising agency, and designed jackets for Aura. One of his most recent projects are Simple House repetitive houses - simple, modular, frame construction, easily modified. Kuba senses trends and immediately translates them into design language. We have been watching him in the editorial team for years, and I think he will surprise us more than once.
