A sophisticated alternative to the traditional sewer riser system

28 of October '19

GEBERIT SUPERTUBE
(RE)GAIN SPACE

The new Geberit SuperTube solution offers a sophisticated alternative to the traditional sewer riser layout in high-rise buildings. The main benefit is the elimination of the need to install an additional riser with side ventilation.

NO NEED TO INSTALL A VENTILATION RISER

Thanks to Geberit PE Sovent fittings, which have been used around the world for many years, sewer risers can be built without ventilation pipes running in parallel, as the fittings provide a connection between the sewer approaches and the riser in a hydraulically optimized way.

The air column created by the hydraulically optimized fittings remains stable up to the point of the first change of direction. When the sewer riser changes direction, air flow is disrupted in the horizontal pipe sections. To ensure that pressure changes in the riser are compensated for, a ventilation bypass had to be used on this type of offset.

The new solution ensures the continuity of the column of air in the sewer riser when its direction changes by 90°.

SAVING SPACE

Geberit SuperTube technology gives great space savings, both in the case of a vertical ventilation riser and in the horizontal offset. With SuperTube technology, the ventilation riser, which was previously necessary when changing the duct alignment, is no longer needed. By using smaller diameter pipes and omitting ventilation risers, low-diameter culverts can be used. When the direction is changed to horizontal, pipe up to 6 meters in length can be used without any slope, which is an added benefit. As a result, the ceiling suspension can be placed in close proximity to the concrete ceiling. This solution allows for more efficient planning of room heights. The additional space gained through Geberit SuperTube technology can be better used in planning usable spaces.

SAVING TIME

Thanks to Geberit SuperTube technology, the time-consuming nature of planning and installation is also reduced, as the drainage system can be introduced using a single riser. Such a solution offers undeniable advantages for sanitary engineers and installers, allowing, for example, easier layout of the drainage system in a building. By omitting the ventilation riser and using smaller-diameter pipes, the installer needs fewer materials, and site work can move at a faster pace.

Prior to its launch, the new Geberit SuperTube technology was thoroughly tested in test risers built at the manufacturing facility in Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland.
