FOBOS impregnates - FIRE RESISTANCE OF WOOD CONSTRUCTIONS
FOBOS® is a line of specialized protective impregnates manufactured by LUVENA Spółka Akcyjna. All agents are designed and manufactured in Poland. Each of them has been designed to ensure the resistance of construction wood to fire, as well as to biocorrosive agents, in a situation of unfavorable conditions.

PHOBOS - WOOD PROTECTION
The effectiveness of protective impregnations under the FOBOS® brand is confirmed by certificates allowing marketing as biocidal products and specifying the class of reaction to fire. All our products have full ITB documentation, as confirmation of approval for use in comprehensive protection against fire and biocorrosion of building elements made of wood and wood-based materials.
Our products are aimed at both professionals and individual investors who are serious about the safety of their homes. Thanks to their simple application, their use does not require special qualifications or additional training. The only prerequisite for obtaining the declared scope of wood protection is compliance with the application instructions especially with regard to the performance standard of the product.

REACTION TO FIRE CLASS EUROCLASS
By using fire retardants we change the way fire affects the materials used and limit their participation in the development of a fire. The reaction of impregnated wooden elements to fire is described by the EUROCLASS classification system. This system shows how a product behaves when exposed to fire - whether the impregnated element ignites easily and quickly, whether smoke is emitted during the process, or whether it resists flames.
Wood impregnated with FOBOS® products obtains the reaction class B-s1,d0, which corresponds to a product that is "non-flammable, does not drip or fall off under the influence of fire and does not spread fire".
Using fire-retardant impregnates, we essentially limit the spread of fire - by giving wooden elements of the structure the NRO (nonproliferation of fire) class. The presence of the impregnant accelerates the charring of the wood surface, which essentially "dims the fire" and causes the flame on the wood to self-extinguish once the source of the fire is removed. In this way, fire-protected wood does not contribute to the development of a fire and minimizes the damage caused.

IMPREGNATION AND FIRE RESISTANCE OF WOODEN STRUCTURES
The reaction to fire describes the behavior of wood under the influence of fire, while fire resistance defines how long a structure retains its load-bearing capacity under fire load.
Of decisive importance in terms of ensuring adequate load-bearing capacity is the use of structural elements with appropriate minimum cross-sections, so that despite charring the core of the element retains the ability to carry loads during a fire. What is overlooked is the effect of the fireproofing impregnations used on the level of fire resistance.
However, regardless of the cross-sections used, wood still remains an inflammable material and in contact with fire can accelerate the spread of fire. To reduce the contribution of structural timber to the development of fire, FOBOS® fireproofing impregnations should be additionally used.

ROOF TRUSSES IN THE NON-IGNITABLE CLASS
The basic and most traditional fireproofing agent in the company's offer is FOBOS® M-4, which not only allows you to effectively protect wood against fire, but also protects against the development of domestic fungi and insects. This agent has been used for years to impregnate lumber intended for roof trusses, or to protect prefabricated trusses. FOBOS® M-4 is intended for indoor use only. It allows for the protection of structural timber up to the "non-flammability" and "NRO non-fire spreading" class (according to PN-EN 13501-1+A1:2010).

FIREPROOF OSB BOARDS
The latest product in the company's offer is a specialized fireproofing impregnant FOBOS® B, which enables the flame retardancy of raw OSB, particleboard, plywood or, for example, glued laminated timber. The formulation was developed to easily impregnate smooth surfaces of wood-based products that are difficult to saturate with traditional agents. A major advantage of FOBOS® B is its full approval for use in rooms intended for human habitation. FOBOS® B is intended for indoor use only. It allows for the protection of wooden decorative and structural elements made of wood-based panels to the class "non-flammability" and "non-fire spread NRO" (according to PN-EN 13501-1+A1:2010).

WOOD FACADES IN THE NRO CLASS
To meet the growing importance of wood as a facade cladding LUVENA Spółka Akcyjna also offers the water-based fireproofing varnish FOBOS® Z-LAK, which makes it possible to obtain the NRO class for wooden building elements outside buildings in accordance with the current Decree of the Minister of Infrastructure.
FOBOS® Z-LAK protects wooden facade claddings made of European wood species and Siberian larch to the NRO fire-retardant class with a 5-year durability of protection in outdoor conditions (according to PN-B-02867:1990 + Az1:2001). This product can also be used in the protection of wooden shingle roofing up to the Broof {t1} non-flammability class.
