Luminescent and chromatic paints for special tasks. Architecture in the style of Cyberpunk, the answer is no!

01 of March '21

Luminescent (fluorescent, glowing under UV and glow-in-the-dark) and chromatic (thermochromic, hydrochromic, photochromic) paints

In the interesting times we live in, with the constant search for surprising and impressive architectural and finishing solutions, the SPLinx Jacek Bisiorek company surprises with its offer. This is probably the most professional and comprehensive portfolio of products and services in Poland related to glow-in-the-dark ( glow-in-the-dark), UV-light (invisible fluorescent) and fluorescent paints. Decorating architectural and urban spaces with such striking paints enriches them with unusual, expressive, sometimes even slightly surreal, surprising and interactive components. An amazing high-tech or even sci-fi effect?

Luminescent paints

Phosphorescent paints - painting with light

Paintsthat glow in the dark (phosphorescent, glow in the dark) allow the designer to build a kind of tension and dialogue between the viewer and the space. Architectural elements change under the influence of the natural cycles of day and night. Paints that remain almost completely transparent during the day, begin to glow with their own light in green, yellow, blue, red, orange or purple in nighttime conditions or in a blackout situation. A façade "charged with light" during the day and glowing at night, a ceiling shining at night with a fever of stars like the sky after dark, elements of the sidewalk "lighting" the way for passers-by, glowing in the dark fragments of decorations, ornaments, elements of costumes. With the help of phosphorescent paints, the creator can illuminate his night environment both indoors and outdoors by painting with phosphorescent paints.

Ultraviolet luminescent paints - a feast of colors

Elements covered with daylight-transparent paint when the light is extinguished and the UV lamps are turned on (so-called Blacklight) reveal a hidden world bursting with a splendor of colors and brightness and purity of colors. In this way, it is also possible to hide content that is only visible when the blacklight lamps are lit. UV-light paints come in many colors: from purple through intense red, orange, yellow, chartreuse, green, blue and even white. With such a color palette at our disposal, we can create truly colorful images. It should be noted that paints in ordinary light are completely transparent or milky white. It is only after lighting a UV lamp that they reveal a true fever of colors.

Neon glow of paints - fluorescent paints

Another example of luminescent paints are fluorescent paints that shine with a bright, pure neon glow. They are used most often in places that are particularly intended to attract attention, to attract the viewer with their brightness, expressiveness and incredibly pure color. We can find fluorescent coatings in clubs, during spectacular events, in theaters and dance halls. Energetic, intense colors are designed to attract the viewer's attention, shout to him and encourage him to play. Fluorescent paints are used just as often for warning and information purposes. Their distinctive color forces the observer to focus on them. The viewer is, as it were, forced to note and analyze the message presented to him in this way.

Chromatic paints - paints that change color under the influence of external agents

Thermochromic paints - reaction to temperature

Very interesting and innovative solutions can be achieved with chromatic paints, especially thermochromic, photochromic and hydrochromic. Thermochromic paints change color under the influence of temperature. The designer has the ability to shape the image according to the thermal conditions of the environment, tinting it when it is cold and discoloring it when it is hot. Surfaces can react to human body heat and other temperature sources, thermochromic floors that leave footprints, walls that react to touch, ice or warm air, building facades with thermochromic coating that change color when exposed to the heat of the sun's rays, ceramic bathroom or floor tiles that change color when exposed to hot or cold water, radiators that change color when the heating is turned on. When designing architectural devices with the help of thermochromic paints, the user plays a kind of game with the installation coated with such paint using the available means of temperature change such as human body heat, heating devices, cold ice, etc.

Photochromic paints - responsive to light

Spectacular visual effects can be achieved with photochromic paints. Completely transparent paints that color when exposed to sunlight (or the action of a UV lamp) showing visual elements only after exposure to light. Architects can create facades that change color when the first rays of light illuminate them, installation elements that perform an informative function revealing themselves only when the sun shines on them, warning installations, for example, alerting about exceeding the recommended doses of ultraviolet radiation falling on the surface, natural decorative elements such as leaves or vines entwining facades and coming to life with the rising sun.

Hydrochromic paints - reaction to the presence of water

Architects shaping urban spaces can be inspired by hydrochromic paints that change color when exposed to water and moisture. When the sidewalk or sidewalk is dry they appear bland, colorless, dull and monotonous, after rainfall they can turn into vibrant images with vibrant colors and colorful ornamentation. In this way, you can also shape the zones of areas where water is a source of entertainment or leisure like swimming pools, saunas, fountains, etc. If the water reaches the surfaces coated with hydrochromic paint it will transform them by giving them a completely different character, changing the hue, shade, transforming the painted element into something completely different or adding surprising and message-changing complements to it.
