Inspired by the Shou Sugi Ban technique, a traditional woodworking method

20 of November '24

BURNS is a company founded by architects inspired by the Japanese technique of Shou Sugi Ban, a traditional method of woodworking that involves burning the surface of wood to increase durability. Dating back hundreds of years, the Shou Sugi Ban method carries wisdom, experience, respect for nature and the idea of wabi-sabi.

BURNS draws on this heritage and combines it with current production capabilities to provide customers in Poland with the highest quality firewood. The story of our company begins with a passion for wood and a desire to create exceptional products that combine aesthetics and durability.

Advantages of natural fire preservation

The main advantage of fire-treated wood is increased resistance to weather, UV radiation, moisture and pests. Wood subjected to such high temperatures is more durable and has a significantly extended lifespan. In addition, the firing process gives the wood a unique appearance. The deepened contrast in the grain of the wood opens up a wide range of possibilities for impregnation, staining and bringing out unique visual qualities.

For architects

Thanks to its extensive production facilities, BURNS realizes the demanding and bold visions of architects. For a project, the company impregnates wood to the NRO non-flammability standard, supplies custom profiles and creates new colors. The choice of finishing materials is crucial to creating a cohesive, harmonious space. That's why BURNS consultants go to great lengths to provide their clients with top-quality products that will last for years while reflecting their individual preferences.

The company provides a wide range of colors: from black, through various shades of brown, to gray. One of the important features of the company's offer is the ability to personalize the products, including oiling the boards in different colors. This allows architects to freely integrate BURNS materials into the overall design concept, achieving a consistent and aesthetically pleasing end result.
