TECHNOLOGY, RESPONSIBILITY AND DEVELOPMENT
Responsibility
Sustainable design is much more than creating new technologies or products. It's a broad view of the entire context - from the idea and functionality, through the manufacturing process and distribution chain, to all aspects of operation, user needs and, finally, product disposal. A responsible design approach already takes into account all environmental and social consequences at the product conception stage, both of the manufacturing process and of the use itself.
The essence of responsible design is to optimize the use of raw materials, energy and impact on the environment.

Can there be a compromise between technology and economics and environmental and social parameters?
The philosophy and results of the Dyson brand are proof that such a compromise is achievable. Solving today's problems is firmly in the DNA of the Dyson brand. More value for less money, ergonomics and rational use of resources is a promise that is realized every day in the use of Dyson products and that drives everything its engineers do.
The idea of responsible design materializes in all Dyson products - faster, more efficient motors that use less energy, cleaner, safer and more energy-efficient batteries, thinner yet stronger plastics and more energy-efficient technologies such as LEDs. But it's worth noting that responsibility at Dyson is not just about products and technology, it's also about the organization's human resource management, investor relations and social value, which translates into specific charitable and educational activities. All of these areas are equally important to Dyson.

Lean engineering, or balance in all processes
Dyson defines its pursuit of excellence and balance in technology, ergonomics and ecology as lean engineering, which enables it to use science, technology and changes in user behavior to reduce the impact Dyson products have on the environment. This is the only product development direction guaranteed to minimize environmental impact and sets worldwide trends related to the circular economy.

Problematic waste
One of the basic tenets of the circular economy is to reduce waste, which cannot be recycled and is an ecological problem. Awareness of the importance of this problem has led to the development of solutions such as hand dryers with Dyson Airblade technology, which uses air to dry hands quickly and efficiently. By optimizing all processes and using innovative Dyson Digital Motor technology, Airblade hand dryers generate up to 85% less carbon dioxide per dry compared to using paper towels. And they don't generate waste in the form of used paper towels that must be transported and disposed of, helping to increase the carbon footprint.
The refined ergonomics, which are the result of in-depth research and engine optimization work on Airblade machines, make them not only more efficient and faster performing machines, but also economical due to lower operating costs.

Durability, or long product life cycle
Functionality and ergonomics of products, these are the features that prove themselves in the most demanding conditions. In the case of Dyson Airblade technology, these are public facilities where heavy traffic and a fast flow of people are a regular feature of the toilet space. The durability of the solutions used is crucial in this case. How long an appliance will remain fully functional for trouble-free use is the basis of a responsible approach to designing new products.
Engineers at Dyson pay very close attention to selecting optimal materials to guarantee the long life cycle of each product. Rigorous material testing in Dyson's laboratories helps to eliminate technological limitations, improve them, and thus create robust products with economical use of raw materials.
